LASSIE Information

What is LASSIE?

LASSIE (Learn and Serve System Information Exchange) is a web-based institutional data collection and reporting system that provides basic program information and outcome data required to describe and track the progress of the Learn and Serve funded service-learning programs at the grantee and subgrantee levels. Major elements of the LASSIE system include online data entry, online data management tools (such as automatic email reminders) for use by the Corporation and grantees in managing the data collection process; and an online reporting capability that allows users to access program data and to generate aggregate reports on an as-needed basis. There are three survey forms that are designed for use with schools (k-12), community based organizations, and higher education institutions.

Who provides the data?

The data was provided by schools, community based organizations and higher education institutions that received Learn and Serve America grants or subgrants and ran LSA supported service-learning programs. The total number of institutions changes each year, based on the number of grants that are awarded.

What is the reporting period?

The reporting period for a grant year is from July 1 to June 30. The Public Use Reports contains data going back to the 2004-2005 reporting period. Each year in the fall the Public Use Reports will be updated with the prior year’s data set.

Can I get copies of the survey instruments?

Yes. They are available for downloading here. There are three versions: for schools (k-12), for community based organizations and higher education institutions.

What types of information does the Public Use Report contain?
